Building Confidence & Self-esteem
Modify behaviour and tackle negative beliefs
Build Confidence
To be confident in your abilities you need to examine what you do know and what you need to know to gain that confidence. For instance, there is a difference between lacking confidence in public speaking because you don't know the techniques and have little experience of it and allowing that to become a phobia. Maybe, speaking in public and generally feeling uncomfortable talking to strangers at social gatherings are a related problem. People who are confident speaking in public do not focus upon how they are feeling - they are too busy focussing outward on those around them. Confidence is therefore about acting with optimism, calm, clear focus and being relaxed around uncertainty.
Raise Self-esteem
Low self-esteem is about about making judgements about yourself, your image or your abilities. It can often lead to depression or being manipulated or bullied by others. People who feel good about themselves generally have more success. Building self-esteem starts with understanding in which aspects of your life you are doing well and where you could do better - then develop plans for tackling old negative thinking and behaviours.
Therapy for Confidence Building
Combining techniques from hypnotherapy, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) and Neuro-linguistic Programming (NLP) is an effective way of silencing the inner critic and establishing new, more helpful default responses at a subconscious level. Years of acting in an unconfident manner can be reprogrammed using positive mental rehearsal techniques for great future performance. We will carry out exercises during our sessions that you can build upon in your own time to constantly improve your performance!
